About the Event
On Monday, Sept. 22, in recognition of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Sept. 30), we will be having two flag-raising ceremonies:
10 a.m. at the New Westminster Campus with Elder Phil Gladue.
- 1 p.m. at the Maple Ridge Campus with Elder Ken Pruden.
New flag commissioned by JIBC
This year, we will be unveiling a new Orange Every Child Matters flag created for JIBC by a young Indigenous artist named Tiah Sampson. Tiah and her family will be present at the ceremonies.
These ceremonies are open to everyone. If you are going to be on New Westminster or Maple Ridge campuses on Sept. 22, please try to make the time to witness this ceremony.

Also, in support of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, there will be an Orange Shirt Kiosk in the NWC Atrium on Wednesday, Sept. 24 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. and Thursday, Sept. 25 from 12 p.m.-2 p.m. Make a pledge of action towards Reconciliation to receive a free t-shirt.
