Derek Deacon joined JIBC as General Counsel in 2019 and is responsible for managing JIBC’s legal affairs.
Previously, Mr. Deacon was a manager of legal affairs and chief privacy officer with a private equity company in Vancouver, BC. Prior to that, he practised law at a full-service law firm, also in Vancouver.
Mr. Deacon received his law degree from the University of Victoria, and holds both a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Diploma of Technology in Business Management (with distinction) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology.
