My name is Iku Yeh and I’ve been a paramedic since 2004, working part-time in rural BC as an OFA 3. In 2019, I completed my Critical Care Paramedic training and specialized in Adult Critical Care Transport.
I started teaching at the JIBC in 2016 following the recommendation from a colleague. I was already precepting and mentoring new members to BCEHS, so the next logical step was to start teaching.
Teaching at the JIBC continues to be a highlight in my career. Watching the students evolve during their time at the JI and beyond gives me great pride that I was part of their journey no matter how small of an impact. My motivation to keep teaching is simple. One day, one of the students may be called upon to help someone I care about. If they do, I know they will have the knowledge and skill to provide the care required.
