Information for Prospective Employees

JIBC offers competitive compensation to all employee groups.   

For eligible employees, the total compensation package includes the benefits and pension outlined below, as well as generous vacation and other leaves.

Benefits

Employee benefits include Extended Health, Dental, Long Term Disability, Basic Life Insurance, AD&D, Optional Life Insurance, and Emergency Travel Assistance.

Eligibility for benefits and coverage levels vary for each of JIBC's employee groups.

 

Pension

The BC Pension Corporation administers the pension plans for all employees at JIBC.

Based on the eligibility rules of the BC Pension Corporation, employees who are members of the BCGEU may be enrolled in the Municipal Pension Plan. Managerial, senior administrative employees, and instructional staff may be enrolled in the College Pension Plan.

Both the Municipal Pension Plan and the College Pension Plan are Defined Benefits Plans.

Representation

Employees in support positions at JIBC are represented by the BC Government and Services Employees Union (BCGEU).

Employees in managerial and senior administrative positions, as well as some instructional positions, belong to our Fair Comparison group.
