Course Details

This session will expose the IIO Officer to the purpose of a Police Service dog. The selection process, handler and service dog training, K9 tactics and containment, and the Canine Unit. It is well known that training involves both the handler and the dog, each with a specific purpose and set of procedures and responsibilities to guide practice. In BC, training is managed by two different agencies; however, despite differences in training methodologies, the end result of training is largely the same, allowing investigators to depend on a consistent set of principles and standards for their investigations.
