Course Details

This course is for professionals who integrate some form of art making into their clinical work, are not formally trained art therapists, and are interested in the expressive aspect of mind. The course will provide an introduction to the theory and practice of art therapy, enabling participants to use this powerful therapeutic medium with effectiveness, skill and ethical integrity. Areas covered include models of art therapy, both short term and long term, creating and maintaining and art therapeutic environment, therapeutic benefits and contraindications, vicarious traumatization, liability issues and boundary management. Opportunities will be provided for experiential practice, creative exploration, and discussions. (Formerly CY250)
