Course Details

This course provides an overview of mental health needs of community corrections' clients, including a summary of the types of mental health issues, signs and symptoms of disorders, as well as various response and management options. Real-life client scenarios and best case management strategies are discussed, with particular focus on suicide ideation/intent, trauma informed practice, Indigenous perspectives, co-occurrence with substance misuse, and the role of forensic and mental health services. Legal and ethical considerations are also reviewed.
