Course Details

This course is intended to provide correctional staff with an overview of the roles and responsibilities of a probation officer. Fundamental philosophies and policies of the BC Corrections Branch, in relation to the duties and responsibilities of a probation officer will also be looked at while working as agents of change. The learner will acquire the basic skills to perform core duties, including an initial intake on both bail and sentenced clients. The learner will also understand the administration of court orders including submitting breaches and applying for court order variations. Focus will be placed on learning the operational requirements needed to complete the most basic duties of a probation officer.
