Course Details

Students will learn about the history of labour relations in Canada, as well as the legal framework within which labour relations operate. Considerable time will be spent examining the constitutional, legislative and common law context of Canadian labour relations, as well as related legal issues such as: workers' compensation, employment law, human rights law, privacy law and Canada's related international legal obligations. Competing theoretical perspectives on labour relations will be examined, and all course materials will be illustrated with real life examples to prepare students to deal with simple and complex labour relations issues in the workplace.
